First Aid & CPR Northwest Territories

In the Northwest Territories, the Early Learning and Child Care Regulations — in force since November 2024 — require every staff person to hold both a first-aid certification and an infant and child CPR certification, each from a program approved by the Director. The requirement sits under the territory's Department of Education, Culture and Employment and applies to staff individually rather than to one designated responder. Every person on the team is therefore expected to be trained for the emergencies that matter most with young children.

Anafilaksia na utoaji wa dawa

Both prescription and non-prescription medication may be given only with the parent's prior permission, in its original or pharmacist-supplied container, by a designated educator, and must be kept in a locked cabinet. Operators must post and share every child's food allergies with all staff. While the regulation does not spell out epinephrine or anaphylaxis specifically, the safe course is unchanged: recognize the signs early, know the child's emergency plan and act without delay.

Usisubiri siku ya upyaji

A choking or non-breathing child leaves no room to hesitate, and in a small community the professional help you count on may be further away still. A recognized, standards-based certification puts calm, deliberate action within reach exactly when it is needed — and meets the territory's requirement for every staff member. For the families who trust you, that readiness is everything.
