In health care, maintaining high standards of care is essential to protect the public. For regulated nurses, keeping resuscitation and first-aid skills current is part of an annual competence cycle and is often an employer requirement; for personal support workers it is built into the qualification for the role. Here is what the rules expect for your role — and how recognized, up-to-date, documented training meets it.

For support staff, the Personal Support Worker program at Aurora College requires a Standard First Aid/CPR-C certificate, and first aid is generally required of care aides in the territory's long-term-care and home-care settings.
